Proud Pioneer

An incredibly hateful "religious" group, the Westboro Baptist Church (WBC), had a scheduled protest in front of my alma mater, Cupertino High School, this morning from 8-8:45 a.m. They said, "the WBC will picket the fag-infested, pervert-run Cupertino High School." Outrageous isn't it?! Cupertino High School organized a counter protest where we wore purple, stood in silence, and showed strength in numbers to show acceptance, love for diversity, and peace.

We had 10 minutes of silence in the quad. Some people silently held up the "peace" sign, and some held up the "I love you" sign. The silence was powerful.

After they protested for 20-25 minutes, they left. GOOD RIDDANCE! I love the counter protestor sign.


How can people be so cruel? Learn from others, embrace diversity and accept people for who they are. They do have the right to protest, but so do we. They had 5 members of the WBC, we had hundreds of counter protestors. Proud to be a counter protestor, a CHS alumni, and an open-minded, loving, and peaceful person today.
