Busy Bruce

Days have been filled with better sleeping, better eating, lots of time just staring at the baby and braving the outside world...going farther than to Barnes and Noble, which is only a mile away.

I found a picture of me as a baby...does Bruce look like me?

Those are my lips and maybe my chin. I thought Bruce had my nose, but hm...maybe not...?

Bruce played on the blanket Grandma Carolyn made him.

We bought the infant insert for the Ergo baby carrier. We like the Moby wrap, but when it's 80+ degrees out, wearing yards of fabric and a baby that's a little heater, it's a little much. Bruce loved the Ergo just as much as the Moby.

Bruce is growing some seriously kissable cheeks.

Bruce has been getting a little fussy when he's getting tired, and instead of nursing him an hour after he's already eaten, we've started giving him a pacifier to help him fall asleep. He only uses it when he's sooo tired and having a hard time soothing himself to sleep. He fought it at first, but is doing great now. Fuss fuss here, pacifier for 2 minutes, and he's out and the pacifier falls out. It's definitely a God send when he's having a melt down, say, in the grocery store or in the mall!

We took part in The Great Cloth Diaper Change yesterday by changing Bruce into a cloth diaper and sending a picture of Bruce in to Tiny Tots, a local cloth diaper service and boutique. We've been planning to switch Bruce to cloth diapers using their diaper service, but since we got so many tiny disposable diapers, we're using most of them before starting the diaper service. My friend, Vera, gave us this cloth diaper when she was back home visiting. Bruce's first cloth diaper!

His shirt is so fitting, tomorrow is Earth Day.

Bruce and his papa being silly. Bruce was trying nosefeeding, haha!

My favorite - the mouth open sleepy face.

In the Moby wrap at Chipotle for lunch.

Asleep on my chest after eating.

Today Bruce and I went to the mall (all by ourselves!) and to the grocery store (did I mention we were all by ourselves?!)

Yes, that's my son's infant carrier taking up an entire shopping cart. Car seats were not meant to be placed on top of the shopping cart like most people put them - how unsafe!

After shopping with Mama, Bruce, Chris and I went to Redwood City for Chris' softball game - Bruce's first! After the softball game, almost all of us stayed to hang out and have a BBQ afterwards.

Bruce with Auntie Kristen.

Haha, trying to nurse on Auntie Marie's arm.

Auntie Rosa sooo excited to meet Bruce.

Rosa's son, Quintin, loved Bruce too. He wanted to hold him!

Quintin giving kisses to Bruce.

Bruce is a busy bee these days - going new places, doing new things, and meeting new people every day. Bruce sleeps for longer stretches at night, only waking 2 or 3 times to eat, and then he goes right back to sleep. During the day he only cries if he's hungry, has a dirty diaper or is having a hard time falling asleep. Breastfeeding, changing his diaper, walking with him or giving him his pacifier for a few minutes solves all of these things. I'm loving this part of being a mom to a newborn. My little Bruce is just awesome.

  1. Glad you are going out and braving the outside world!! It was definitely nice to be able to do so...especially when you have a good baby! However, grocery shopping by yourself = NO BUENO!! I hate seeing people but the carseat on top of the cart. NOT SAFE!! You just learn to buy what you need and strategically place your items around him. lol
