May 26, 2012 - Two years of marriage down!
On our actual anniversary, I was working and Chris was camping with his friends. Work was insanely busy, and camping...well, it looked like this:
To make up for our less than ideal anniversary, we went to Disneyland and Universal Studios the following weekend. Tuesday night I woke up at my usual 10:30 p.m. time, told Chris I had 4 days off and we should go to Southern California. He was on board! I worked all night, came home briefly before getting my hair cut and a mani/pedi. Chris did laundry and I came home to pack and we were on the road by 3. I had been awake since 2 p.m. the day before with only a 1 hour nap in between, so I cuddled up with my pillow, blanket and eye mask and after a very comfy nap, woke up in the parking lot of our hotel and I was able to watch the Disneyland fireworks awake and rested!
We settled into the hotel and decided nothing exciting for the first night, Chris had been driving all day. The next day, the first thing I wanted to do was the Toy Story ride since Chris had never been on it. It was fun!
I was winning at first...
...but I eventually lost.
We rode the train to relax which we've both done many times, and surprisingly, Chris rode the monorail for the first time!
We had to have lunch at Big Thunder Ranch - it's tradition! I had the cutest sundae with Mickey sprinkles.
We went to City Hall and got our anniversary buttons which were super cute.
The first night we watched the World of Color show which was great. I'm so glad we moved at the very last minute and didn't stay in the "wet zone". The "wet zone" turned out to be more of a "soak zone". It's on Paradise Pier right in the middle of California Adventure.
The second day, before even going into the park, we had lunch and shopped around Downtown Disney.
The Legos store had awesome displays outside and inside the store. Chris just HAD to go inside.
There were a lot of Legos!
After another full day of rides, people watching and shopping, we had dinner at Chris' favorite place in Southern California, Medieval Times! Just like the first time we went, we cheered on the black and white knight.
Again, no such luck, he wasn't the winner, but we had a blast nonetheless!
Saturday we went to Universal Studios. My co-worker, Alicia, had already planned a trip weeks in advance and she was at Universal Studios that day with her husband too! Chris and I had lunch at the Saddle Ranch right before going into Universal Studios.
It was so much fun to hang out with Alicia and Mic in Universal Studios! Things have changed so much at Universal Studios since I was last there. There's a new Transformer ride, Mummy ride, Shrek ride/show, even the tram tour is different!
Mic and Alicia right before the Jurassic Park Ride. Yes, Mic is still eating his icy!
I think this is us on the tram. The King Kong part is now 360 3D. Our tour guide told us a portion of the back lot burned down and it when it was rebuilt, it was different. Thank goodness Jaws is still the same!
While our actual anniversary was less than perfect, our anniversary celebration was very fun. Just like you said love - 2 years down, 80 to go!
Her: A sleep deprived, slightly neurotic, knitting labor and delivery nurse. Him: A fun loving 9-year-old video game junkie trapped in an adult's body. She tries to get him to grow up, and he reminds her how to stay young... Two peas in a pod.
